Grove, OklahomaYou'll find Grove nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks, in the heart of Green Country on the shores of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees. In Northeastern Oklahoma, Rand McNally has identified Grove as one of the top ten most desirable retirement areas in the United States. This historic community is the perfect blend of quiet, small-town quaintness, bustling commerce, and friendly, down-home people. Grove is a dynamic, prosperous, and thriving community with a heritage of pioneer spirit. Years ago, Grove was nothing but wilderness, its natural spring and groves of trees became landmarks for travelers and settlers. At this current day Grove Springs Park is the site of those historical Springs. In the 1860's, Cherokee Indian families settled in the area, having made the Trail of Tears relocation from the Carolinas. Families began to settle in Grove around 1868 with the spirit of pioneering, as it is still today. With the completion of the Pensacola Dam, the town of Grove was nearly surrounded by lake water. Connecting Grove to the surrounding towns was due to the construction of Sailboat Bridge to the North and Honey Creek Bridge to the South. Grove began to grow.
